Welcome!
Hello! We are Beyond the Barricade - an all female online live music publication with localised coverage of femme artists performing in the South East Queensland surrounds. Basically we're by fangirls, for fangirls!
About Us
Beyond the Barricade was created for the people who live for live music — the fans, photographers, writers, and creatives who have been standing just out of the spotlight, capturing what happens before, during, and after the lights go up.

Born out of the frustration of how hard it can be to break into creative industries, Beyond the Barricade exists to bridge the gap between passion and professionalism. We know personally how hard it is when you're just starting out in live coverage to even get a foot in the door. So we’re here to amplify emerging voices, document local scenes, and give new creatives a real platform to publish, collaborate, and grow.

We cover gigs, artists, culture, and the moments that don’t always make it to the world stage. From concert photography and reviews to features on up-and-coming talent, Beyond the Barricade is about getting the most passionate fans out from behind the barricade and into the industry to tell their stories and get their coverage out there.

At our core, Beyond the Barricade is a community. A place to learn, make mistakes and grow. But perhaps most importantly, build industry grade experience in real time. Whether you’re a reader, contributor, or artist, you’re part of the ecosystem that keeps local music alive and moving forward.

This is live music culture, documented by those most passionate about it.
Fangirl? We prefer the term “cultural archivist”
